FRAZIER PARK, California - A wildfire that's now in its third day in the hills and mountains north of Los Angeles is 35 percent contained.

Firefighters should again see cool temperatures today, but there are still winds of 20 miles an hour or more. And much of the fire is in rocky, rugged and hard-to-reach places, making containment a challenge.

The fire broke out near Interstate 5, when temperatures were in the 80s. A heavy aerial firefighting effort has helped crews make gains on containing it.

The fire has spread to three counties, but it's burning in mostly unpopulated areas. It isn't threatening any homes or buildings. Still, a high school in Kern County was closed as a precaution.
