CLEVELAND -- A substation outage is impacting some Red Line service for RTA.
RTA says in a release that according officials, at 2:45 p.m. today, a CEI power line fell and hit an RTA catenary wire over the Red Line tracks, near the Louis Stokes Station at Windermere in East Cleveland.
The current carried into the rail station's electrical room, where equipment was damaged.
There were no injuries. The incident caused RTA to shut down Red Line rail service between the Louis Stokes Station at Windermere and Tower City.
Normal service continues on west side Red Line rail service between Tower City and Hopkins Airport, and the Blue, Green and Waterfront lines.
Today, RTA customers can ride the HealthLine 24/7 on Euclid Avenue to return home or attend the Tribe playoff game.
RTA is assessing the damage and will determine if shuttle bus service will be needed Thursday morning.
RT A officials stressed that safety continues to be their number one concern, and assured customers that they will be able to reach their destinations.
