LORAIN -- Mayor Megan Flanigan of Grafton was arrested on suspicion of OVI Saturday morning.
Just after 3 a.m., Grafton Police found a damaged fire hydrant on Fox Run Drive. While looking at the hydrant, one officer found a license plate.
The plate came back to Mayor Megan Flanigan.
That's when Grafton police called the Lorain County Sheriff's Office to help.
Once at the scene, deputies found a heavily damaged white SUV in the road.
While police were running the license plate, Flanigan returned to the scene.
Police and deputies gave several field sobriety tests after smelling a strong odor of alcohol on Flanigan.
She was then taken to Lorain County Jail for a Breathalyzer test.
Flanigan was arrested for OVI, reasonable control and failure to stop after an accident.
