PUT-UN-BAY -- Different century, same result.  Much like the original Battle of Lake Erie, the warm southwest wind clocked around to the northwest allowing the Flagship Niagara and her master, Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, to sprint through British lines and secure America's supremacy of the Great Lakes.

A total of 17 Tall Ships from around the world, an estimated 2,000 pleasure boaters, an untold record-breaking slew of island onlookers, the Ohio State and United States Navy bands accompanied by a fireworks display that would make the Fourth of July jealous, all came together in perfect harmony creating a celebration for the ages.

Although every one of the majestic Tall Ships will eventually throw the village of Put-in-Bay to their stern and make way towards other destinations, the Battle of Lake Erie reenactment truly turned out to be a once-in-a-lifetime event that will surely stand the test of time and be remembered forever.
