CLEVELAND -- Jimmy Dimora has been transferred back to Cleveland from a federal prison in West Virginia as part of the on-going corruption investigation in Cuyahoga County.

The Investigator Tom Meyer says Dimora has been returned to testify before a Cuyahoga County grand jury in a county corruption case next week.  The prosecutor has offered no comment.

Dimora is serving a 28-year prison term at the Federal Correctional Institution Gilmer. The medium security prison is located in central West Virginia about 200 miles from Cleveland.

Courthouse sources say Dimora could also be used to testify against Cleveland attorney Anthony Calabrese who was indicted for bribery and racketeering just last month, for his role in the county's Ameritrust building deal.

"I'm not surprised that this is happening, I wouldn't be surprised if other players who have been formally prosecuted are brought back and he (Dimora) may just be the first big name that we know of," explained attorney Ian Friedman, a legal analyst.

"We know that there are individuals still being prosecuted for the county corruption case," Friedman continued.

"Jimmy Dimora has been implicated in that and he may be coming back as a witness or they may be considering whether or not they're going to prosecute him also."
