ELYRIA -- Human sex trafficking can and does happen everywhere, and that includes Lorain County.
That's why the Human Trafficking Collaborative of Lorain County started in 2009.
Since then about 40 women, men and children have been rescued and provided services to get their lives back on track.
"Even small Lorain County has the problem and we have some 60 motels in our area and near major highways which can be a problem," says Mindi Kuebler, executive director.
With the FBI announcing a nationwide sting that rescued 105 juveniles over the past three days, it's clear that many children are in danger.
"It's very scary there are more missing children out there, this is the tip of the iceberg," says Kristi Miller from the Human Trafficking Collaborative of Lorain County. These women are working on this project as volunteers.
This Saturday August 3, there is a pancake breakfast at Applebees in Elyria to raise money for the HTCLC from 8am to 10am.
Then from 10:30 to 2:30 they will go to local motels and hand out bars of soap with the national human trafficking hotline to help possible victims.
