CLEVELAND -- Indians relief pitcher Chris Perez and his wife have pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor drug charges.
The pleas were faxed to Rocky River Municipal Court on Monday.
Police say postal inspectors tipped them to suspicious packages mailed to the home that the couple rents. The packages were determined to be containing marijuana. They were shipped in the name of the couple's dog, Brody.
The couple is scheduled to appear in court for a June 19 arraignment. The faxed plea included a request that a requirement that the two appear in person for the arraignment be dropped.
