Cleveland: Rape Crisis Center chief takes new job

CLEVELAND -- For 12 years, Megan O'Bryan has been in the forefront of making the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center a strong organization to help victims of sexual abuse.

Now she is preparing for a new role.

Mayor Frank Jackson announced she will become the Executive Director of the Cleveland Transformation Alliance, a group overseeing the implementation of the Cleveland Schools Transformation Plan.

"The work we are doing to transform Cleveland's schools is some of the most important work happening in the city....Ms. O'Bryan's experience and leadership skills will add to our success and help ensure every child has access to an excellent education," Jackson said, in a prepared statement.

O'Bryan is currently Chief Executive Office of the Rape Crisis Center.

During her time there, the center has expanded its programs and taken a leading role in enacting reforms within the criminal justice, education and medical systems.

CRCC Board Chair Peter DeMaraco said, "She's been the face of CRCC for 10-plus years and was ac rucial player in developing the Center's ability to expand is core services and advocacy to mee the needs of those in our community affected by sexual abuse."

O'Bryan starts her new job July 22.
