Hit-skip driver in fatal Amish buggy accident found

ASHLAND COUNTY -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol says the SUV involved in the May 13 hit-skip on CR 500 near TR 101 has been located.

Troopers say John Yoder, 50, of Homerville, was driving his buggy about 7:20 p.m. May 13 in Jackson Township.

Yoder died of his injuries Thursday.

Troopers say Douglas Church, 20, was driving eastbound on CR 500 in a Jeep Cherokee when he became distracted and drove into the rear of the buggy.

After the crash, Church drove off.

Utilizing the media to broadcast information on the hit-skip vehicle, a short time later a call was received at the Ashland Patrol Post advising of the location of the vehicle in involved.

Officers responded to a home in Sullivan, and located the 2002 silver Jeep Grand Cherokee.
