CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Cuyahoga Falls High School closed Friday due to an emailed bomb threat.

A message was sent about 6 a.m. to students in the district informing them of the closure.

School officials said an email sent to the school warned that an "IED" -- improvised explosive device -- was in the school and would go off during school hours.

Police and the Summit County Sheriff's Office searched the school thoroughly with bomb-sniffing K-9s and found nothing.

Nichols said police and the Secret Service are now tracking down the email sender. Nichols said the school will be open this weekend for basketball games and classes would resume Monday.

In the statement released to students, the superintendent stressed that safety is the district's first priority.
