RAVENNA -- A German Shepherd that has spent the last six months recovering at the Portage Animal Protective League after being found neglected has a new home.
The Portage APL says Tanner has a new, wonderful family to call his own.
A Mansfield couple and their elderly dog have taken in the 11-year-old Tanner.
Tanner was found last summer in Hiram neglected and near death. The dog was emaciated and unable to walk and much of its fur had fallen out.
The Portage APL provided months of care and spent thousands to help nurse Tanner back to health to give him this second shot at having a loving home. The organization won the rights to Tanner after a court battle with his owners.
