CLEVELAND -- A man was shot in the 1100 Block of East 143rd Street Saturday morning.
According to Cleveland Police, dispatch received a call shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday from a man who said he shot someone that attempted to break into a house.
Officers responded to the location and found the man with two handguns on him. The man, later identified as 24-year-old Brandon Kirby of Cleveland, was placed under arrest.
Kirby told officers that he was sitting in his car in his girlfriend's driveway listening to music when her ex-boyfriend arrived. He feared for his safety, ran into the house and locked the door.
The other man then attempted to enter the home through a front window. Kirby ran out of the house and as he ran from the house the man began to chase him. While being chased, Kirby shot the man.
During the investigation, dispatch received a call from MetroHealth Medical Center for a male shot. Officers located the man with gunshot wounds to his thigh and knee.
According to the police, the man said when he arrived at his girlfriend's house Kirby was standing on the porch and for reasons unknown shot him multiple times.
