CLEVELAND -- Ed FitzGerald is acting and sounding more and more like a man getting ready to challenge Governor John Kasich.

Wednesday night, FitzGerald journeyed to Columbus to get his name and face in front of the state's 88 county Democratic chairman.

"I can't think of a greater honor I could possibly have than to someday be a candidate of the Democratic party as governor," he told the party's state leaders.

Some of the party chairmen claimed FitzGerald told them one-on-one he is running.

FitzGerald's never run statewide. He needs to make an announcement soon to start raising the megabucks, about $25 million, he'll need for a competitive campaign.

He says family considerations and the state of county government are also factors in his decision.

Former Congresswoman Betty Sutton is becoming more open about her possible interest in running.

Congressman Tim Ryan's name is still in the mix.

Former Attorney General Richard Cordray has a federal job which prevents him from getting involved in a campaign while he's in it.

The evolving governor's race will be on topic Sunday morning with Tom Beres on Between the Lines.
