LORAIN -- Police arrested City Councilman Dennis Flores Wednesday night for driving under suspension, failure to control his vehicle and driving under the influence, according to the police report.
Police arrived at Flores' home in the 900 block of West 18th Street at 9:28 p.m. after Flores missed his driveway and ended up in the neighbor's yard.
When officers arrived, they detected the smell of alcohol on Flores, who was visibly intoxicated, according to the police report.
Flores failed a field sobriety test and he refused to take a Breathalyzer test, police said.
Police also said he had a "strong alcohol smell" but was cooperative.
The police report stated that Flores admitted to drinking Great Lakes Christmas Ale that night.
Flores' license was under a non-compliance suspension for failing to pay insurance, police said, which is why he was charged with DUS.
It was the second time Lorain police have charged Flores with driving under the influence.
Flores was booked into Lorain City Jail Wednesday night and bond was expected to be set.
