CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Medical Mart's premiere event will be the Cleveland Clinic's Medical Innovation Summit.
It will be held at the Medical Mart and Convention Center October 14-16 as the grand opening of the $465 million facility.
Cleveland Clinic's Innovation Summit brings together doctors, researchers, entrpreneurs and executives to pool their insights and discoveries on health care innovations.
This year's event drew 1,100 attendees.
The Clinic's Executive Director of Innovation Chris Coburn said, "By moving the summit to the Medical Mart, we're giving our sponsors exceptional opportunities to showcase their technologies and we're providing our attendees an unparalleled experience in a state-of-the-art facility."
Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald says the event "provides the perfect opening ball to launch the Medical Mart into business."
Since its founding in 2000, Cleveland Clinic Innovations has filed more than 1,800 patent applications and nearly 450 licenses.
55 spinoff companies have received $700 million in investments and about 1,000 new jobs were created.
