WILLOUGHBY -- On Sunday, Willoughby Police received a call of a Jeep Grand Cherokee operating in a reckless manner in the Lincoln Park parking lot, near downtown Willoughby.
As they arrived in the area, officers spotted a vehicle matching the description travelling westbound on Euclid Avenue, near the Immaculate Conception Church.
As the officer turned around, the vehicle accelerated and continued westbound on Euclid Avenue. The officer activated his overhead emergency lights in an attempt to catch up to the vehicle.
Once the driver noticed the officer had turned around, the vehicle drove southbound onto Maple Street. Once the officer arrived onto Maple Street, he noticed the vehicle travel through two stop signs without braking, ultimately crashing into the garage of a home located at the intersection of Maple Street and Arlington Drive.
When police reached the Jeep, the driver and what was later to be found to be three passengers had jumped from the Jeep and run away.
After a search of the area, all passengers were found and treated for minor injuries by the Willoughby Fire Department.
The driver of the vehicle, Kurtis A. Peterson, 25, was taken into custody under suspicion of OVI and other misdemeanor traffic related offenses.
The passengers were released.
