CANTON, Ohio -- A 63-year-old man was killed after he was struck by a car while crossing the street in Canton Wednesday night, highway patrol says.
Canton resident James Mallett was walking south, crossing Tuscarawas Avenue outside of a crosswalk, when he was struck by a pickup truck at about 8 p.m.
Mallett was taken to Aultman Hospital, where he died.
Investigators say he was walking from the BP gas station at Tuscarawas Avenue and Harrison Avenue, heading back to his home on Dryden Avenue SW.
The driver of the pickup, George Huff, 71, of Canton, had not reported injuries.
The highway patrol investigation is ongoing.
