Browns defeat Bengals 34-24, fans happy

CLEVELAND -- Rookie Brandon Weeden threw two touchdown passes and the Cleveland Browns snapped an 11-game losing streak that dated to last season, beating the Cincinnati Bengals 34-24 Sunday.

Cleveland had not won since Nov. 20, matching a franchise record for consecutive losses. But for the first time this season everything fell into place for the Browns (1-5).

Montario Hardesty, filling in for injured rookie Trent Richardson, scored on a 1-yard plunge and cornerback Sheldon Brown intercepted Andy Dalton and returned it 19 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter as the Browns outscored the Bengals (3-3) in the second half 27-10.

It was the first win in nine tries against an AFC North opponent for second-year Browns coach Pat Shurmur.

Bengals scored first on a 55-yard touchdown pass from Andy Dalton to Jermaine Gresham to give Cincinnati a 7-0 lead.

Bengals led 7-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Browns tied the game at 7 on a 71-yard touchdown pass from Brandon Weeden to Josh Gordon.

Bengals took a 14-7 lead on a 4-yard touchdown pass from Dalton to AJ Green. 

Bengals led 14-7 at halftime.

Phil Dawson cut the Bengals lead to 14-10 on a 41-yard field goal.

Dawson connected on his second field of the day from 38-yards to cut the Bengals lead to 14-13.

Bengals led 14-13 at the end of the third quarter.

Montario Hardesty scored on a 1-yard touchdown run to give the Browns a 20-14 lead.

Mike Nugent hit a 41-yard field goal to cut the Browns lead to 20-17.

Browns took a 27-17 lead on a 3-yard touchdown pass from Brandon Weeden to Ben Watson.

Sheldon Brown intercepted Andy Dalton and took it back 12-yards for the touchdown to give the Browns a 34-17 lead.

Andy Dalton threw a 57-yard touchdown pass to AJ Green to cut the Browns lead to 34-24.

Browns defeated the Bengals 34-24.
