It's perhaps the most expensive, most-watched and among the most important Senate races in the country.
First-term Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown is being challenged by Republican State Treasurer Josh Mandel.
Both candidates, but especially Mandel, are getting significant outside financial help from other groups running ads on their behalf.
The campaign has had a nasty, negative tone.
Brown has portrayed himself as a champion of the middle class and taken Mandel to task for his Treasurer hiring practices and false statements.
Mandel has painted Brown as too liberal for Ohioans and the deciding vote in favor of the Affordable Health Care Act, also known as Obamacare.
Both candidates, but more so Mandel, have had ads or campaign statements dubbed "Pants on Fire" and "False" by the Politifact truth-checking analysis. Truth has become an issue in this race.
Brown is the only statewide Democratic officeholder in Ohio.
Mandel is in the midst of his first term as State Treasurer.
Tom Beres interviewed Mandel one-on-one in an earlier Between the Lines segment.
