MIAMI- Forecasters say Hurricane Nadine has strengthened somewhat in recent hours while churning across the eastern Atlantic far from land.
The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said Nadine is a Category 1 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 90 mph (150 kph).
At 11 a.m. EDT Sunday, Nadine was centered about 640 miles (1025 kilometers) west of the Azores islands and moving north-northwest at 9 mph (15 kph).
Nadine has been swirling around in the Atlantic for more than two weeks since becoming a tropical storm Sept. 11. No coastal watches or warnings are in effect.
Forecasters say little change in strength is expected during the day though Nadine should eventually begin gradual weakening. Hurricane force winds extend out about 30 miles (45 kilometers) from Nadine's center.
