ZANESVILLE, Ohio -- The law director for a central Ohio town has pleaded no contest to soliciting a prostitute but says he won't resign from his job.
Scott Hillis, law director for the city of Zanesville, east of Columbus, pleaded to the misdemeanor charge Thursday and was fined $400. He also was ordered to perform community service and got a 30-day suspended jail sentence.
The divorced father of two says he reported himself to the state to see whether the conviction will affect his law license. But he says he has no plans to resign from his elected post. His term ends in 2015.
The Zanesville Times Recorder reports that the 48-year-old Hillis was caught with a prostitute in a car parked in a private driveway on July 19.
