LAKEWOOD -- When the weather warms up, you can expect to see neighbors clearing things up by having a yard sale. But the community of Lakewood is considering changing the way homeowners do business.
The city's Law Department is considering a lengthy list of changes.
The proposal that has presented before council on June 4 would do the following;
- Limit the length of a yard sale to 2 days at a time
- Restrict residents to having a sale to 2 times a year
- Create hours of operation from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Only one sign less that 5 square feet will be allowed on the property a day before and the day of the sale
Also upheld would be the city's rule to keep garage sales confined to the back yard of properties or the garage itself, unless otherwise permitted.
City council is scheduled to vote on the matter July 2.
