BRUNSWICK -- Lexi Poerner, 16, was laid to rest Friday following a funeral service in which she was lovingly remembered.

"Noodles and potatoes," announced the Rev. Bob Stec, pastor of St. Ambrose Church, at the beginning of his eulogy for Lexi, surprising the assembled mourners with his story.

"She loved noodles and potatoes," Stec continued, "and her goal this summer was to learn her Grandma's recipe." Stec then used the analogy of a recipe to state that Lexi's family had already provided her with the most important recipe, the one which put her on the path to a faith-filled life.

Poerner was among four Brunswick High School students killed Sunday when their car went airborne over railroad tracks on Boston Road and crashed into a ditch. Two other victims were buried Thursday. Another funeral is set for Saturday.
