ANAHEIM, CALIF. -- Disneyland, the self-proclaimed "Happiest Place on Earth," has ignited a strong response from many people angry about the latest price increase on all ticket options.
With the new price hike, which took effect on Sunday, it now costs $87 (up from $81) for a one-day ticket to enter just one of the two California parks. For a one-day park-hopper ticket, guests are now paying $125 (up from $105). The biggest jump came to the premium annual pass program, climbing 30 percent from $499 to $649.

To compare, a Platinum season pass for Cedar Point, which includes admission to all Cedar Fair parks for an entire year, runs $179.
To explain the new prices, which impacts both Disneyland and the California Adventure park, officials posted a message to its fans on the Disney Parks Blog. "This summer is one of the most anticipated times in the resort's history, and a visit to the Disneyland Resort has never been a better value," the May 18 message states. "In the past few years alone, we've added new world-class attractions, such as The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel's Undersea Adventure, "World of Color" and Star Tours: The Adventures Continue. Now, with the expansion of Disney California Adventure park, including the 12-acre Cars Land, Buena Vista Street and the Carthay Circle Restaurant, almost complete, there are even more reasons to visit."
You can read the rest of their post here, which also says, "Annual Passholders recognize that their investment pays for itself after just a few visits."
Since news of the price increase hit, Disneyland's Facebook page has been flooded with posts from people expressing their disappointment. Here is a small sampling of some of those comments:
WOW! We've been an annual pass holders for 4+ years & I'm sad to say that my family of 7 will not be able to afford annual passes any longer. :(
Your a bunch of Greedy people...Walt would have never let these price hikes happen!!! I will never go to Disneyland again and my friends and family won't either....so uping the prices to get in, but lowering the amount of people who can afford this, is kinda like cutting off your nose to spite your face....I can tell you...Walt is ashamed of you....
You are breaking my heart along with my wallet. My girls will be so sad when I can't afford to give them their usual birthday presents this year. To price out even the middle class is just crazy. Have you not noticed we are still in the throws of a recession? Shame on you.
Happiest place on Earth...for who now? Disney should be ashamed of themselves! There is no justification for the price hike, except pure greed. No longer a family friendly destination, now only for the elite!
need to discount your one day tickets ! not everyone can do your hoppers with your rate increase! Need lower rates..
I cannot believe the prices just increased 30 percent. This is ridiculous. Was considering to buy an annual pass. Will not be doing that now since price went up by $150 per premium pass. That is a total of $450 extra dollars for our family 3. Sorry Disney but there is nothing magical about that.
Walt once said "it's kind of fun to do the impossible" he did not mean to raise prices so people had to do the impossible to afford to go!
Well sorry Disneyland, we won't be visiting you anymore. $150 increase for the premium pass is outrageous!! You are no longer the Happiest Place on earth. Hope you can make ends meet when you loose all the tourists! Best of luck
