LORAIN -- More than 19 violent fugitives have been arrested, accused of being involved with nine murders in the City of Lorain.

The 19 men have more than 167 criminal convictions or current indictments, including the current charges of murder, drug trafficking, aggravated trespass, intimidation, and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle.

Police say they are part of a gang that was arrested in a sweep in connection with nine of the last 12 murders in the city.

Lorain police detectives worked with the SWAT team, U.S, Marshals, K9 units and the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force.

The Lorain detective bureau targetted an alleged gang known on the streets as "M.O.B.," meaning Member of Bloods.

Police said the gang members were connected with murders, home invasions, attempted murders, robberies and an array of violent crimes.

Detectives said the group was financed by dealing drugs.

There were two sweeps conducted Friday.
