CLEVELAND -- The arrests come after a six-month undercover investigation by the FBI's joint terrorism task force.

The task force, which got a tip that a group of young men who were self-described anarchists with connections to the group Occupy Cleveland were talking up and brainstorming about possible acts of violence.

Douglas Wright, Brandon Baxter, Anthony Hayne, Connor Stevens and Joshua Stafford allegedly wanted to strike a blow against corporate greed.

The FBI began connecting with them October 21.

Feb. 20 was when they heard the first talk of buying and using explosives concocted from the Anarchist Cook Book.

On April 1, a deal was struck for C-4 explosives, gas masks and protective vests.

On April 19, the Brecksville Bridge was picked as the target.

On April 29, the fake explosives were delivered.

On April 30, the arrests were made.

U.S. Attorney Steve Dettelbach said "...the defendants went to a hotel room to purchase what they thought was cC4 explosives...the defendants planted explosives at the base of the bridge then went to a site and entered the code they thought would blow up the bridge with people going over it..."

All the suspects appeared in court Tuesday and their relatives declined to comment.

Federal prosecutors asked for no bond, calling them all a flight risk.. They remain in federal custody.
