BOARDMAN - Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers found 4.5 pounds of marijuana-laced treats during a traffic crash investigation on Western Reserve Road, east of Market Street in Boardman Township in Mahoning County, on Aug. 25.
During the crash investigation, troopers detected a strong odor of marijuana on one of the drivers. During a probable cause search of that driver's vehicle, troopers found individually wrapped Rice Krispies-like treats with a strong odor of marijuana.
Further investigation revealed that the treats were laced with a liquid form of marijuana.
Patrick Altier, 22, of Boardman, Ohio, was charged with possession of marijuana and trafficking in marijuana.
Altier was also charged with OVI. Altier was put in the Mahoning County Jail.
If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison and up to a $20,000 fine.
