MINNEAPOLIS -- More doubts are being cast on the war injury claims of an "America's Got Talent" contestant.
Timothy Michael Poe won over judges of the NBC show with his story of blocking a grenade blast in 2009 to save his buddies in Afghanistan.
Poe said the act of heroism broke his back and left him with a brain injury.
When a judge remarked on how Poe's stutter disappeared when he sang, Poe said he discovered his talent only after his speech therapist suggested he sing in the shower.
But ex-wife Shannon Conroy says the truth is Poe not only was never hurt on the battlefield, he also spent four years fronting an alternative rock and cover band in Rochester, Minn.
Poe has declined multiple requests for comment from The Associated Press.
