Forty-four percent answered that America's best days are ahead, while the same number thought the country's best days are behind us. Twelve percent were not sure.
When asked about their money, 42 percent of the adults said they were in debt, while 38 percent responded they were "about even." Nineteen percent indicated they were "ahead."
Of the 600 adults polled, 313 currently have mortgages. Seven in 10 of those say their payments are on schedule, and 21 percent claim to be ahead of schedule.
Only 9 percent of the respondents with mortgages said they have fallen behind in their payments.
