Floodwaters opened a 30-foot-wide river right through the center of Mentor Headlands Beach State Park, and crews have been trying to pump it out and fill it back in. Also, a good portion of the beach’s parking lot and half its property was still underwater earlier in the week.
A spokeswoman for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources says they hope to have sections of the park reopened on Monday.
About 2.2 million people visit Headlands each year.
