But in the Brandon McCloud case, the ruling wasn't as clear cut.
When police gunned down teenage robbery suspect McCloud in his bedroom it sparked outrage despite officers claims he had a knife.
“You cannot justify 10 shots in the body of a 15 year old and say its justifiable,” NAACP President George Forbes said. “We expect these two officers to be fired. Fired and prosecuted.”
But special prosecutor and respected judge C. Ellen Connelly didn't see it that way, calling police conduct inappropriate but deciding the outcome is within the bounds of the deadly force guidelines set forth by the law.
