The city now owns the old west side Midland Steel plant site at West 106 and Madison Avenue. It's paying $1.5 million for the cleaned up 21-acre brownfield that will go into a ready -to-build-on landbank. The new city development leader Brian Reilly says that the city is ready to provide companies property, skilled workers and financial help. The money the city makes selling the land will be reinvested to buy more real estate.
