According to a news release, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife is attempting to re-establish a snowshoe hare population that disappeared from Ohio in the early 1900s. The snowshoe hare is known as the varying hare because its fur changes from brown to white during the fall and winter. The hares were trapped in Maine.
