Fourteen-year-old Gina DeJesus has been missing for a year. And Saturday, the FBI released the sketch of her alleged abductor.
Investigators say they are not giving up hope of finding DeJesus. They say shortly after she disappeared last year, two students reported a suspicious man near the school where Gina DeJesus attended.
The FBI sketch shows a Hispanic man, who is 25-35 years old. He’s described as being about 5’10” tall and 165-185 pounds. He also has green eyes. Investigators say this is significant because green eyes are rare in the Hispanic community.
You many recall that Gina DeJesus disappeared while walking home from her middle school.
That day, two students noticed the man in the sketch, but investigators say they didn’t think it was significant.
“This didn’t look like a good lead at the time,” said Bob Hawk, FBI. “It came in shortly after she was abducted. We didn’t want people to lock into one person at that time. We had a lot of what we thought were really good leads. We covered those. They were unsuccessful.”
The new sketch will be shown on ‘America’s Most Wanted’ Saturday night. They’re hoping someone will recognize the man and call. Investigators are not calling him a suspect. They say he’s a “person of interest,” and they would like to talk to him.
