DeJesus vanished a year ago as she was walking home from school. Everyday since then along with worrying, her mom uncovers the piles of teddy bears and gifts that family friends and strangers drop off for Gina.
"Days like this, my daughter would be riding her bike," Nancy Ruiz says.
DeJesus' family just got a chance to take a look at the latest clue the FBI has come up with. It's a sketch of a person of interest in the case. A clue drawn up from the memory of a tipster that may have seen Gina before she disappeared.
"I did not recognize [the person], but I am hoping somebody does," Ruiz says.
The FBI is still distributing the sketch to friends and classmates of DeJesus. When they release it Thursday, it will be posted here on wkyc.com.
"I want them to take the time when they show it, then to take a good look at the sketch," Ruiz says.
You will be able to print a version from wkyc.com and take it with you; Something DeJesus' family hopes will help investigators.
"I want them to turn around and tell the authorities," Ruiz says. "So it would be best if they had it on them."
DeJesus' family hopes clues start coming in by Friday when DeJesus' mom has her own birthday. Helping bring Gina home with be the perfect gift.
"That would be the most important gift, better than anything else," Gina's sister Myra DeJesus, says.
