Flowery Branch, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Atlanta Falcons announced
Wednesday the release of cornerback Asante Samuel and linebacker Stephen
Samuel spent two seasons in Atlanta and compiled six interceptions and 63
tackles through 26 games with 25 starts.
The four-time Pro-Bowler (2007-10) was traded to the Falcons in 2012 from
the Philadelphia Eagles for a seventh-round pick and signed a three-year deal
worth $18.5 million.
The 33-year-old played 11 seasons between the New England Patriots
(2003-07), Eagles (2008-11) and Falcons. He has 393 tackles and 51
interceptions in 157 games.
Nicholas was taken by the Falcons in the 2007 draft and spent all seven of his
pro seasons in Atlanta. Nicholas recorded 284 tackles, eight sacks and five
forced fumbles in 51 starts through 101 games.
