ELYRIA, Ohio -- Elyria Police were involved in the pursuit of a vehicle matching the description of a suspect vehicle wanted in Kentucky Sunday night.
The incident occured around 9:30 p.m. when an officer spotted a black 1999 Pontiac Firebird Trans AM in downtown Elyria.
The vehicle was reported stolen in West Virginia and was believed to be driven by a man wanted in Kentucky by the parole board and department of corrections there.
Police pursued the vehicle to a neighborhood off of Prospect Street. The driver abandoned the car on a cul de sac.
Officers used their K-9 teams to search for the man. The rain and wind made tracking very difficult and police were unable to locate him.
Police say they were unable to determine for sure whether or not the driver was the wanted suspect they were alerted about.
That suspect's name was not released.
Officials are investigating.
