COLUMBUS -- The Ohio Adjutant General's Office says the Ohio National Guard will welcome home 160 soldiers who have been serving in Afghanistan at a ceremony this week.
The soldiers from the 1487th Transportation Company will be welcomed back in a ceremony Friday in Piqua in west-central Ohio.
Officials say the transportation company planned, synchronized and executed operations including tactical supply, sustainment and transportation in Afghanistan.
The 1487th replaced the 1486th Transportation Company out of Mansfield. That company performed the same mission the previous year during deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Previous deployments for the 1487th Transportation Company include Operation Desert Storm in 1990 and Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004.
