PORTAGE TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A 14-year-old Port Clinton boy was flown to an area hospital after he was struck by a pickup truck while riding his bike Sunday afternoon.
Joe Rojas as riding his bike west on Lockwood Road, east of Fulton Street in Portage Township around 4:23 p.m.
A Ford F-150 driver by Marilyn Cuevas, 59, of Port Clinton attempted to pass the bike. While going into the eastbound lane to pass, the bike turned in front of the truck.
The truck struck the bike, throwing Rojas from his bike and onto the windshield before falling back down onto the roadway.
Rojas was flown to St. Vincent's Hospital in Toledo.
Cuevas and her passenger were not injured.
Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating the crash. Officials say alcohol, drug use and medical conditions were not factors in the crash.
No citations have been issued as of Sunday night.
