GROTON TOWNSHIP -- Highway Patrol troopers say a Sunday crash in Erie County sent three people to local hospitals.
Troopers are investigating a two-vehicle, serious injury crash that occurred on state Route 99 at Strecker Road.
The crash occurred at approximately 11:53 a.m. Sunday when the driver of a 2012 White Ford Fusion pulled into the path of another vehicle.
The Fusion was driven by Janet Wahl, 61, of Castalia. She was taken by LifeFlight to St. Vincents ER in Toledo with serious injuries.
Troopers say she was wearing her seatbelt.
She was struck by a 2002 Blue Volkswagen Beetle driven by Hayden Coey, 17, of Greenwich. Coey was taken to Bellevue ER with incapacitating injuries. He was wearing his seatbelt.
Lisa Coey, 39, of Greenwich, was a passenger in Coey's Beetle and was taken to Bellevue ER with incapacitating injuries. She was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The Fusion was eastbound on Strecker and came to a stop at the stop sign for SR 99. The Beetle was southbound on SR 99.
The Fusion failed to yield from the stop sign and pulled into the path of the Beetle.
The Beetle then struck the Fusion.
The crash is still under investigation. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in this crash.
The Erie County Sheriff's Department, Groton Fire Department, and North Central EMS assisted at the scene.
