COLUMBUS -- A prosecutor says an Ohio man accused of shooting a high-powered laser at a police helicopter has been charged.

The Franklin County prosecutor says a grand jury on Friday indicted 27-year-old Michael Rademacher of Columbus on one count of interfering with the operation of an aircraft with a laser and one count of possessing criminal tools.

Investigators say Columbus police officers were on helicopter patrol circling a targeted address March 21 when a laser beam came through the helicopter's windshield.

The prosecutor says the officers regained their composure and determined the laser's origin, later finding a high-powered laser in a search of Rademacher's home. Rademacher could get up to nine years in prison if convicted.

A woman answering his home phone Friday said he wasn't there.
