LYNDHURST -- Police are investigating a robbery at the AT&T store at 5076 Mayfield Road at Richmond Road at 6:10 p.m. Sunday.

Police responded to the store when an employee called 9-1-1 to report an attempted robbery with shots fired.

Officers learned a man had entered the store and waved a gun around. He was confronted by a second employee who threw a chair at him.

That's when the man fired several shots wildly. No one was struck by the bullets.

Then the second employee wrestled the suspect out the door where he ran off southbound.

Numerous officers and a K-9 unit searched the area, but the suspect was not located. No employees were injured during the incident.

An employee reported, to responding officers, that the suspect walked by the store about 90 minutes prior to the robbery and looked suspicious.

The man's firearm and other evidence were recovered at the scene and were processed the Lyndhurst Police Detective Bureau.

The man is described as black, with a light complexion, about 19 years old, 6 feet tall, with a slim build, "grown-out messy, or nappy" hair, clean-shaven, wearing a green Nike jacket, dark purple jeans and black Nike ACG boots.
