ALLIANCE -- Police say that a registered sex offender convicted in 2002 on child porn charges is caught again distributing child porn.
On Friday, police detectives, along with agents of the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, executed a search warrant at an Arch Avenue home.
This search warrant was the result of an approximately two-week investigation of a resident and involved the use of internet for downloading or sharing child pornography.
Numerous items were seized in the search including several computers, hard drives etc. Numerous photos and videos believed to contain child pornography were seized during the investigation.
Police have charged Steven F. Slimak, 42, of Arch Avenue with one count each of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor and pandering obscenity involving a minor.
Both charges are elevated to third-degree felonies due to his prior convictions for similar charges in 2002.
Slimak was arrested by Alliance police in 2002 and was convicted of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles, illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material, pandering sexually oriented material and sexual imposition.
He is currently a registered sex offender as a result of those convictions.
Slimak was arraigned Friday in Alliance Municipal Court and is being held in the Stark County Jail on $250,000 bond.
He will have a preliminary hearing May 10 in Alliance Municipal Court.
The investigation into this matter is continuing.
