Police: View 'person of interest' in Aliza Sherman murder

CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Division of Police Homicide Unit is asking for the public's help in identifying a person of interest in the Aliza Sherman homicide.

Police say that the individual was seen on video in the area E. 13th Street and Hamilton after the crime occurred.

You can barely see the person on the right side of the video.

Police said a passerby found Aliza Sherman, 53, of Beachwood, a Cleveland Clinic nurse, lying in a pool of blood March 24 on East 12th Street near the Galleria at Erieview Mall.

Sherman and someone who tried to help her called 911. Sherman was taken to the hospital, where she died a short time later.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office said she was stabbed 11 times.

Anyone with information pertaining to the identification and or whereabouts of this individual is asked to contact the Homicide Unit at 216-623-5464.

The reward has reached $25,000 for information on the murder of Aliza Sherman March 24 outside the Galleria at Erieview.

The Friends of Aliza Sherman have joined with Crime Stoppers of Cuyahoga County in an effort to catch the person or persons responsible for her brutal murder.

The Friends of Aliza Sherman, according to friend Mary Fuery, are offering up to $23,000 and Crime Stoppers is offering up to $2,000, for information leading to the arrest and conviction. Police have no suspects at this time.
