STRONGSVILLE -- Striking teachers will meet again this weekend with school board officials in another bargaining session aimed at reaching a contract and ending a seven-week strike.
The Plain Dealer reports that teachers left the picket line Friday for the weekend. But union leaders say picketing will resume Monday if no deal is reached in negotiations set for Sunday.
The strike over salary and working conditions at the district southwest of Cleveland involves around 400 teachers and about 6,300 students. Parents and students are pushing to end the walkout that began March 4.
Some have staged demonstrations at school board headquarters. There were cheers and boos aimed at school board and speakers at a tense board meeting Thursday that was attended by nearly 800 people.
