CLEVELAND -- The Cuyahoga County prosecutor has announced that three people have been indicted on charges related to the theft of thousands of dollars from the Berea School District.
Randal Scherf, the former Treasurer of the district, 44, and his wife Jennifer Scherf, 43, both of Port Clinton as well as a business partner, Michael Langford, 66, of Maineville have been indicted on charges.
The indictment reflects charges of theft in office, tampering with records, money laundering and having an unlawful interest in a public contract.
According to Prosecutor Timothy McGinty, the Scherfs allegedly falsified documents to the district for reimbursement of medical expenses. The total loss to the district was $28,000.
A warrant has been issued for Randal Scherf. The three are scheduled to appear in court on April 25.
