AKRON -- One person was shot and killed at a local McDonald's Saturday night.
The Akron Police Department tells Channel 3 the shooting happened at 390 West Market Street before 11:00 p.m.
The victim, an employee of McDonald's, was taking out the trash when a man confronted him by the back door. The suspect then began shooting the victim several times before running off.
The victim was taken to Akron General Medical Center where he died from his injuries.
Sunday afternoon, John Blickle, the owner/operator of Rubber City McDonald's, said "Our entire Rubber City McDonald's family is shocked by the tragedy at our West Market Street restaurant. We offer our prayers and sympathies to the family of the victim. The safety and well-being of our employees and customers is our top priority. We are cooperating with the police investigating this incident and defer any questions to them."
The suspect has been described as a a medium complexioned black male, 22 to 27 years old, 5'07" - 5'10", 150 - 180 lbs., with a moustache, and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
He was seen in a dark-colored SUV, possibly a Ford Expedition or a Cadillac Escalade with tinted windows. The vehicle was last seen traveling southbound on Valley Street towards Crosby Street.
