AKRON -- A woman accused of posing as a vet and practicing without a license has been convicted on several charges after a trial in Akron.

A judge this morning found Brandi Tomko guilty of charges including identity theft, prohibition concerning a companion animal, practicing without a license, forgery and misdemeanor theft.

Tomko is scheduled for sentencing on March 15.

Prosecutors say Tomko practiced without a license for more than two years at an Akron animal hospital and say some of the animals in her care died. Prosecutors say Tomko wrote prescriptions and performed surgeries on the animals. Three people made complaints to the Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing Board.
