CLEVELAND -- One person was sent to the hospital after an SUV crashed into a church on Cleveland's east side early New Year's Day.
The crash was reported at about 2 a.m. at the New Home Baptist Church at East 153rd Street and Seville Road.
The driver lost control of the SUV and crashed into the side of the church.
The driver left the scene before emergency crews arrived.
A passenger was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center. There is no word on that passenger's condition.
The SUV damaged a guardrail on the street and caused some cosmetic damage to bricks and a door on the side of the church, but no serious structural damage appeared to be done.
