CLEVELAND -- On Tuesday, Cleveland police internal affairs investigators arrested a Cleveland police lieutenant from the First District.
The investigators arrested Cleveland Police Lieutenant John Bocchicchio, 62, for domestic violence.
Bocchicchio, hired in May, 1989, is accused of assaulting his wife at their West 165th Street home Tuesday.
Police say he was arrested without incident and appeared in Ccourtroom 3-D in Cleveland Municipal Court today at 8:30 a.m. and was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence.
The magistrate ordered him to surrender his firearm and ordered him to be "held for a psychiatric evaluation," according to court records.
The magistrate also said that the $5,000 bond set "should be reconsidered if (there are) signs of mental instability.." court records reflect.
His next court appearance is a pretrial scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Dec. 12 before Cleveland Municiapl Court Judge Pinkey Carr.
Bocchicchio is assigned to the First District, however, he is currently off on an extended illness.
